| In the last IRS comprehensive study regarding unreported taxable income by individuals and businesses in the US, in 2006, the estimated unreported amount was 2 TRILLION nationally. California share, being 13% of the National Economy, is 260 BILLION. Using the lowest rate of 6% of 260 Billion corresponds to lost taxes of approximately 15.6 BILLION. We don't have to raise taxes, we just have to collect what's due by the ones who "hide it". I also know there is a lot of Sales Tax theft out there, that rises as sales tax rates have risen. I believe if society can tolerate the legality of cigarettes and their deadly consequences, it can also accept marijuana.
